Feather blades in Thailand

For those visiting Thailand for ther holidays, check out their convenience store. Feathers blades are available there.

A 5 blade single pack costs about 30 baht or about 1 USD. I managed to find a wholesale store and bought 4 cartons of 100 blades for 450 baht or 14.3 USD each. They are labeled stainless steel platimum coated type. Made in Japan of course. The wholesaler is located in Hatyai and don't have an office in Bangkok. For those who know where the wholesalers at in Bangkok, do let forum members know.

Thanks for the heads up. Did you notice by any chance any good shaving soaps or creams being sold there?

you realise that this makes them cheaper than derby's. this just screams for a group buy. 100 for about 15 euro would be a buy for me

This topic came up a year or two ago either here or on SMF. Funny how pricing for an item can be tailored to the socio-economic environment in which they are for sale.

Places like Watsons, supermarkets and local pharmacies I been to stock Gillette multi-blades and goops. I suspect feather blades are only appreciated by Thai women to shave facial hairs. Your new Thai girlfriend probably carry a straight in her handbag.

I was stopped by border customs for bringing such unusual quantities. I bought them because they were sharp I explained. Nothing illegal about that. But there are stories of airport TSAs who steals stuff in check-in bags on the pretext examining them for contrabands.

Thanks for the heads up. Did you notice by any chance any good shaving soaps or creams being sold there?

Ah.... Do you still have the name and/or address of the convenience store and wholesale store that you bought your feathers from? Even a rough description would help ;)

Its an address in Hatyai, South Thailand. 60kms away from Malaysian-Thai border.
13/3-4 PadungPakDee Road, Hatyai, Songkla

If you have a GPS with you, this may help too

I don't have the names of the convenience store however.
BTW, its worth stopping for a night at the border towns. Massages (hard body stretch style) are cheap at 10 USD for 1.5 hrs (240 baht plus tips). The border town of Danok have 3 nighclubs pounding away at night. I am not a party goer so don't know whats going in there. But this video may help.

I was going go to Thailand right before that major Tsunami hit but then I just said Phuket.

I assumed that it was shorthand for the beautiful scenery, wonderful food, rich and fascinating culture, soothing music, gorgeous architectural treasures, great shopping and the gracious, smiling and gentle people who greet you everywhere.

Cheers

While reading this thread I'm thinking about the movie American Gangster, just involving DE blades instead of poppies.
