Favorite razor for shaving your neck?

What is everyone's favorite razor to shave their neck with?

I know most would say their go to razor (overall) but I'm considering getting a slant since some say it's more efficient for neck shaving and all I shave is my neck. :biggrin1:

Same razor as for the rest of me - Gillette New open comb. Still deciding between long and short combs (short comb on order).

I think my issue is mainly mental. Running my hand WTG it always feels smooth after shaving, but ATG is rough. I have 3 or 4 spots on the lower part of my neck that look practically unshaven (but this is obviously from my vantage point in a mirror, up close). I guess my only option to eliminate that stubble look would be shaving ATG. Which I have been avoiding, but XTG and slanted ATG passes for touch up don't yield any different results than WTG. I might give (a very careful) ATG pass a shot this weekend.

Since I only shave my neck it gets all the attention, if I was shaving my entire face I'm guessing it wouldn't matter nearly as much.

I tell myself that 2 WTG passes are just fine and I should stop after that, but I keep attempting touch up that results in no difference. I might have to try harder to convince myself that WTG is sufficient and I should leave it at that. Damn Mantic and his expert abilities!

Welcome to B&B; enjoy the forum and the shaves. My pick for shaving the neck is the Merkur 37c. Just remember to barely skim the lather from your skin with no pressure with that ATG pass. Zero pressure is the key to wet shaving, but especially true going ATG.

I started off tearing up my face by assuming ATG was N-S. And actually had been doing that with a cartridge all my life, I assumed my face was really sensitive. :mad2:

The thing is, since I've mapped my growth and am now properly shaving WTG, I've barely had any irritation at all. The only time I ever feel any burn is if I apply product immediately after shaving (when my face is still wet) or I attempt to J-hook.

Seems like the best plan is to try ATG; then when it looks the same or causes irritation I will know that I need to be satisfied with WTG and not bother trying a different razor either.

Thanks, I have been enjoying my shaves :) Since ATG for me is N-S it will be easier than if it were S-N. I'll give this a shot and after I'm sure I will go back to 2 WTG passes only.

Since I have started using straight razors, I have never had so little (actually none) irritation on my lower neck. The best DE for almost 0 irritation there was always my Futur on 2 or Progress on 2-3.
