Favorite/Least Favorite Home Improvement Project

Mine is painting by far. Although I must admit, I do like the look of the finished product. My favorite - anything plumbing or electrical related. I was apprenticed to a legitimate Journeyman for a couple of years before college. Skills that have served me well over the years. Feel free to comment.

Well, my least favorite was fixing a ruptured pvc drainpipe that was emptying everything from the kitchen sink + dishwasher into the crawlspace under my house. I figured out what was happening because of the smell. I had to lie with my head in a rancid puddle (about 2 feet of clearance) to fix it. Now, it could have been from the toilet so it could have been worse, but even so it was just a gross experience.

Favorite? I had a bunch of bathroom tiles that were loose (original ones from the 30s) and reaffixing and regrouting those was very satisfying. It looked so clean!

Job which made me appreciate craftsmanship? Trying to repair a plaster wall and make it look good. Seriously, those guys who could skim coat a whole wall on top of horsehair + lathe and make it look perfect? Some serious skills. Italian immigrants, probably.

Anything that involves gratuitous amounts of money, I despise.

$3,500.00 later, I will have a new AC unit.

Thank goodness for contractor sized packs of power outlets! All of the outlets are broken. Won't hold a plug, broken insulation, if an outlet can be goobered it is.

Don't get me started on the breaker panel! It looks quite devious and shady. I would like a new Square D panel put in, but must confer with SWMBO.

Now, on the other side of the coin.

Getting set up the man cave at the southern command bunker. YES!

I'm still maintaining certain facilities at Mom and Pop's. They have a barn for keeping tools in and working on cars. Also, my old room will be a manly hobby room as my youngest brother is still at home.

The biggest question is how to disguise the closet humidor so Pop doesn't stumble across it.
