Favorite Cream and Why?

This should be a fun one. I enjoy seeing different opinions to help identify my next cream.

What is your favorite go to cream and why?

Mine is Castle Forbes Lavender.. Great scent even better performance.

I do NOT have a single fave... The ones I enjoy the most are:

Truefitt & Hill (any scent, but preference is Grafton, then Trafalgar, then 1805)
Trumper's Coconut Oil Cream: (scent is meh but the performance is hard to beat)

Top shelf would be Blenheim Bouquet but it is a little pricey for a daily use product (for me anyway). Great for a "special shave"

I've been trending toward soaps recently but I always come back to Musgo real classic. It was my daily cream for over a year before I joined B&B.

My favourite cream is Palmolive classic for the simple reason that it is the only cream that works for me. I normally use soaps but been using Palmolive for my last 5 shaves.

I just sold some soaps and acquired creams (T&H, TOBS, GFT, Castle Forbes, and DR Harris). Of these I am most impressed with T&H Grafton for scent and performance. I actually sad "wow" out loud when I first used this. This would be followed by Castle Forbes Lime and GFT Coconut...preferring the coconut to the lime in terms of scent.

Xpec, Castle Forbes Lime(and Lavender) and Trumpers Coconut. All are superb all around creams. Forgot Spencer Devon also. Craig

I had to order this cream because so many good reviews for it.

My favorite would be Truefitt & Hill Grafton and 1805 both are so great scents and good performers.

Truefitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort. Performance-wise, it works better for me than any other cream: great slickness, cushion, and conditioning. I love the light scent - lavender oil, and yet somehow brighter and more "sunny" than most lavender creams I've used. The fact that it is now being sold in 6.7 ounce pots (it used to be 5.8 ounces) makes the $30 price tag seem a bit more reasonable. I also like that it is now being made in England, like the rest of the T&H creams, rather than Canada or the USA, as it once was. Production location is really a minor detail, but now it feels like it's a part of the T&H family, rather than some distant cousin. My one peeve with it: they really need to ditch the "unscented" label. It's so not unscented. It's just not perfumed.

Hello Jerrybuilt.... I also love the T&H Ult. Comfort cream. When and where did you buy a tub of it that was 6.7 oz? I just bought a tub of Ult. Comfort last month and its only 5.8oz,not 6.7. I'm very curious so please reply if you have any info re: this. Thanks, Craig

[Note: while I was typing my reply, it looks like you changed the amount you said was in your tub from 6 ounces to 5.8. I'm unclear on this, because to my knowledge, the 5.8 ounce tubs haven't been made in several years, whereas the 6-ounce tubs were just the previous generation. I'll grant, though, that with as many changes as this product has been through, it is tough to keep track.]

I just bought one last week from Royal Shave; it arrived yesterday. Royal Shave is the only place I've seen that shows what I believe is the current packaging on its website (see link below). Not even T&H's own website is up to date. They actually show a tub that dates back two generations.

For being such a recent product (introduced in 2005), the cream has gone through a surprising amount of packaging changes. The original tub was 5.8 ounces, and was made in Canada; it also came in a box. Then, they changed the label on the lid from adhesive to silkscreen (that's what is currently shown on the T&H website); otherwise, everything remained the same, including amount of product, production location, and box. A couple years later, T&H switched production to the US. The tubs became a clear, translucent plastic, again with an adhesive label; weight increased to six ounces. Also, it no longer came boxed, but was sold only by the tub; ingredient information was posted on a label affixed to the bottom of the tub. The product stayed pretty much the same, despite the change in production facility, although consistency in the tub was slightly lighter.

Now, it's made in England, and comes in a grey, rigid PVC plastic tub, the same basic color as the original tubs (slightly darker than what is pictured on the Royal Shave website). The label on the lid is black silkscreen. On the bottom is the traditional, embossed T&H logo with the "Manufactured for Truefitt & Hill" denotation. The tub is characteristic of Creighton's, who make all the other T&H creams. Weight is now 6.7 ounces. The box is also back, pretty much the same as before, except for denoting that it is made in England. As far as I know, this is the most recent packaging. I haven't used it yet, but in the tub it looks very much like the other T&H creams, with that "settled in" look, rather than the whipped look it had. However, I took a swipe of cream off the inner lid, and it feels the same as always, with that slightly wetter texture than the other T&H creams. For all intents and purposes, the scent is the same as before. I'll reserve final judgment until I use it, but right now, I'd say it's a positive change - more cream for the money, aesthetics in line with the rest of the brand, and it's made in England, for those of us who care about that sort of thing.

Edit: Classic shaving still shows the previous generation, clear tub. Note the weight of 6 ounces. To see the second-generation tub, check the T&H website. To see the original tub, check the review thread for this cream in B&B's review section.

Update: I did an evening shave and tried out the new tub of T&H UC. It's a little denser in the tub than the USA-made stuff was (although not as dense as their scented creams), but otherwise it's the same as before, which is a good thing.
