Fat Boy Red Dot?

Hi all,

First post as recent DE shaver. It's been 2 weeks with a slim adjustable and a small but interesting selection of blades, and I'm loving it. Still learning, but I'm already preaching to anyone who'll listen. Got some converts already!

Anyway, I've got a bit of a case of RAD. There are other razors on route, but I just acquired a near mint Fat Boy E3 still in the original case with original price sticker on it ($1.95 at Marshals of Alberta). That was a surprise for $20 plus shipping. However, I noticed a Red dot above the adjustable numbers and was wondering if that signifies something collective, or is this normal for all Fat Boys?

I just wanted a Fat Boy to shave with, but if its some kind of collectible item, then perhaps I need to rething the strategy in the name of historical presevation or whatever.

The one on the left is a red dot and the one on the right is a regular fat boy.

I deleted my previous post somehow.. As I was saying you have a regular fatboy with a red indicator. I posted pic above to show you the difference. It should be dated D1 if it was a red dot. Hope this helps.

Red to means Exactly that. A Red Dot above the number indicator, Not a Slit above the Numbers Ring that has a Red Tension clip? But a cased FatBoy for $20.00 is still a nice score )

Thanks all for the reply. I have merely acquired a regular old mint fatboy, thanks to the poster with the amazing photos. Love this community. Marshall's was the apparent pre cursor to zellers in Canada.

Had to shave with it. With a gillette 7 o'clock black and it clearly blew the I'm away. Someone once mentioned that sucking feeling against your skin. Got that with with blade on its third shave transplanted from the slim, which wasn't doing it. Wow!

Side note: superb super lather combo for Canadians is wilkinson sword soap from Walmart and noxema shave cream from shoppers drug mart. Amazing lather, lubrication and cushion.
