Face lather.which Kent?

Help!!! I've asked and asked but not gotten any where really. I've come across a few Kent brushes that are mega cheap from a well know on line vendor. I'm very keen as the B&B boar brush handle has got my juices flowing for that style. I had a vintage Kent a few month ago so figure I'd like to try a modern one. I notice the Horn range area different hair to the Black and White range.

Anyhow which would be best suited for face lathering....I shower shave you see.

Thanks for that. So the size 12 horn, whats that all about? Or the 8 in horn? Sorry I forgot to say I like the horn handle the most.

The Kent H Series with the faux horn handles uses "best" badger hair, while the BK (ivory) and BLK (black) uses silvertip knots. I've used a BK4 and it was quite enjoyable for face lathering, although I tend to prefer a very soft brush. I've never used a Kent H Series and have heard very little about Kent's best badger hair on the forums.

I don't really view the Kent BK series as your typical face lathering brush. I know a lot of people do use it for face lathering, but it has a long handle and a high loft, two characteristics that are well suited to bowl lathering. That doesn't mean that it can't be used for face lathering though. I just think your typical face latherer is probably looking for something with a little bit of a shorter handle and shorter loft. I have a Kent BK8 and I typically use it for bowl lathering creams.

If you can get an '08 or '09 LE those would be your best choices. I just picked up an '09 and it's great.

I'm a face latherer and I love it when my BK8 comes up in the rotation. Often times its rude and even takes cuts in the line.

It's big, but it's a special treat! A true foamy pillow of goodness is about the only way to describe it. Soft but not floppy.

What he said. the BLK8 or BK8 is an absolutely beautiful brush to face lather with. It's an amazing brush that is under used as a face lathering brush because of all the "floppy talk". I'll take this brush for face lathering over a D2 or D3 any day of the week.

I'm sure the 4 would be great as well, but I have no experience with that one.

I've owned a BK4,BK8 and BLK12. I had my best success face lathering with thenBK8. I attempted to do it with my huge and luxuriously soft BLK12. It was a miserable failure. Not nearly enough backbone and the BLK12 literally covers 1/3 to 1/2 of your face, depending on the size of your head !!! Craig
