Late summer is when I typically start bending a (recurve) bow and thinking about it. August = archery = early season.

Oh nice thanks! I have some fun genetics around the property. Most bucks have those longer/leaner tines on them. This 9pt was maybe 3 years old I'm thinking. There's a really nice 8pt from last year I'll be excited to see how he developed over the winter. I do crossbow archery through about Thanksgiving and usually aim to get my buck around Halloween weekend. If it's after Thanksgiving then I'll usually be looking to just get meat on the table and fill the doe tag through December. Our regular rifle season is only 2 weeks so outside that it's either archery or muzzleloader. PA has the late muzzleloader season which is flintlock only. Inlines are only allowed during the early muzzleloader or regular rifle season.
