Eye/sun glasses - fashion is repeating itself

I've been looking for a back up sunglasses pair for the car. I liked these a lot since I first saw them (Starck by Mikli):

But they cost about $350. So, I started looking at different stores on ebay and found a few specializing in retro models and found this (Tommy) at $25:

It's NOS (New Old Stock) and while I appreciate advancement in materials, I still think it's a great deal.

Design-wise, it seems nothing is ever new and designs are simply making a come back all the time.

I have been wearing Wayfarers for 15 years. I remember them being big in the 80's
I have noticed quite a few others wearing them now, mostly the teenagers.
Is 80's fashion comming back?

I don't know about the 80's coming back but it looks like it's getting more difficult to come up with fresh design ideas.
