I plan on swinging by Sally's Beauty Supply later today to pick up some Personna Blues to try out. I'm just wondering what your experiences have been with these blades. Also, if you have experience using them with a Merkur 34-C HD or an EJ DE89, I'd appreciate your thoughts on how they worked out. Thanks!

Funny you should mention this. I have just started trying out the Personna Lab Blues and I love them. I recently got a 5 pack from WCS. I had my third shave today from the same blade and it is every bit as close as it was on day one. I am using an EJ DE89L. I have used Cella, TOBS Lavender, and Tabac. They are go to blade as of today (subject to change when a better blade rears its head). And for the price, they can't be beat. Not only that, but they are American made too!
These are my top blade. Reliable and cheap off ebay at about $13 shipped.
I have had great success with these blades in a host of razors, including the EJ, Tradere, Ikon, Aristocrat Jr, Slim, etc. One of my favorite blades.
They're great -- just ordered my second box of 100, after using Astra SPs for some time. I use the blues in my Gillette Slim and achieve the most comfortable shaves I have so far.
Actually used one in my Merkur 34c the other day and still prefer the Slim. That's more the razor than the blades I'm sure. Haven't used the 34c in months. I just like a longer handle.

I've read previously on this forum that they are the same, but the med preps have gone through additional cleaning for medical use.
And that doubles the cost?
It's entirely possible, who knows what goes on for making them sterile enough for surgical prep. It's entirely possible they are not even the same blade - only Personna can verify this.
I've used both and they shave the same. Both come in the same package, the only difference being the med preps are marked "For Hospital Use" on the blade itself.

I think the Crystal blades are made in the Israel plant. These Super and Med Preps are made in the USA.

The Crystal blades are awesome, they are one of my favorites.
I don't think we know much about the difference between Labs and Meds, beyond opinions and sales speak. You get various reviews on B&B, Personna doesn't address the issue in customer communications as far as I know, and the retailers seems to dance and BS it.
You may be thinking of the Red Personna blades. Not sure if they are exactly the same as Crystal blades, but they come from the same plant---supposedly.

Personna Lab/Blue and Astra SP are my top, go to, buy in 100 pack blades. Excellent quality all around.
The ASR (Personna made in USA) super blue blades are one of my go to blades. Sharp. Smooth. Good longevity. An all round winner.

reds and labs are NOT the same blades. imo the labs are much sharper and for me work much better than the reds i think the reds are okay but not awesome. they pull a bit for me some some razors and while smooth they are not nearly as sharp. i have and use both labs and meds imo they are the same the main difference for me is the quality control i get a few labs here and there that are just a bad blade where i have not had this happen with the meds.
I have 300 and worry that I should buy 300 more.
