Ever-Ready Single Edge Made in England 1920s help?

Hi everyone,

I won this razor on eBay and I don't know much about it. The seller didn't give too much information either. He only stated it is Ever-Ready SE razor made in England in about 1920s. Lower are some photos of it.
Could someone give me more information about it? If someone has or had one, how are/were your experiences with it?

Thanks guys.

Petar

Nice razor, I have never shaved with the British model, but the US made unit is a very efficient shaver. Remember no pressure!

Thanks Mike, I can't wait for it to arrive and use it. A member here, from Croatia too, king1976 gave me 1 GEM and 1 Treet blade to try because Connaughtshaving is closed for holiday. I'm like a child waiting for Christmas to come

I've got several of the "British" 1912s. They are pretty much the same as the US made GEM 1912s. The handle is slightly different. The corners of the handle have a slightly raised ridge, I guess to give them a better grip. Feels a bit pokey to me. Shave wise, no different.

A *great* razor. I love mine. The handle is particularly nice, as is the shave. You'll be impressed, but be sure you get the right blades! Plenty of info here in the forum about that.

I'll now try Treet and GEM stainless razors. The GEMs are the only ones I can order for reasonable price here in Croatia from Connaught. I just hope they'll work.

FWIW-Some people (myself included) think the shave from this British version is slightly more aggressive than the US made version. I like that and usually prefer British razors anyway. I used mine yesterday. YMMV

I actually won 2 of British 1912s. They both arrived same day, couple days ago. I had my three shaves with it, I used GEM blade. I must those were amazing shaves, no irritation and very smooth result. The GEM blade is little bit puzzling for me. It is very loud and it cuts hairs with small effort. I compare them with Feather blades in my Cadet OC. I get great shave from it, but I'm used to blades slice trough beard like it isn't there. With no sound, and no effort. Am I wrong to thinks this? Is this normal? Tomorrow I'll try Treet Super blade and see if I get a better result.

Here are the pics of my two Ever-Ready 1912 razors. One arrived with bakelite box.

I agree, the shave is a tad more aggressive for me.
