Serendipity has struck me today, gentlemen, and I feel foolish for not trying this earlier.
I shaved this morning, and subsequently applied Rose Skin Food as I was going to wear Black Aoud today.
Sitting now at my desk (about 3 hours after my shave), I noticed a sample vial of Sandalwood Skin Food which I had received with a prior order from Mensbiz.
My skin was a little dry (I don't find Skin Food to be hyper-moisturising) so I decided to apply some of the Sandalwood to my face, and what hit me when the two scents collided was...
EGOISTE!
It is almost a dead ringer for Egoiste, and I love it.
In hindsight it's a pretty obvious combination, with them being two of the principal ingredients of Chanel's brilliant fragrance, and I feel incredibly stupid for never realising it before.
I hope it's not the rose in Black Aoud playing tricks on me, so I will try again tomorrow without using a rose cologne and see how it goes.
If it is still Egoiste-esque, I'm ordering me some Sandalwood Skin Food ASAP, and I urge anyone that has access to both flavours to try layering/mixing them, unless it's common knowledge and I'm just late to the party.
Also, yes, I know Egoiste aftershave exists, but this provides you with three different aftershaves - Rose, Sandalwood, and Egoiste
