What's new

Edumacate me on Injectors.

Am I missing a sticky anywhere or can someone educate me on injectors?

- What do the different 'Types' refer to?
- I assume all injector blades are the same? IE - they all work on the different types?

I'm initially drawn to the vintage Schick's with the yellow Bakelite handle - like the older / vintage style - cool factor... :001_cool:
Suggestions? Learn Me... :001_huh:

I do believe all Injectors are created equal!!! I have 2 of them, and the replacement blades work on both. I believe the types refers to the style handle?? I'm not too keen on them, but I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chip in. They shave great, so if your on the fence, just go for it!

Alan Appleby came up with the letter designations such as E, J etc as a way to identify the different models, they aren;t official factory model numbers. Some of them have numbers stamped on the underside of the frame such as M30, M39, etc. Those numbers are not date or model codes, just manufacturing numbers Schick used for some reason.

Thanks - Very helpful links / info.
I'm watching some Type E's right now - really like the color and old style.

Blades: Are the coated stainless blades from Connaught recommended?

You can use those but alot of people like the "chinese " schick blades which can be bought on Amazon or elsewhere

I really enjoy my E-type injector, it's given me the closest, smoothest, nick free shaves i have ever had in my life, the blades are sharp and smooth

My local neighborhood pharmacy stocks the Schick injector blades at the same price they are online.

Call around to some of the smaller pharmacies in your area (not the big box chain stores). Bet you can find them locally.

Yep I live in a small town up here in Alberta(900 people) and I'm able to get them at the drug store in town, at the same price as I can get them online for, $6.99/7 pack

I had one for the same reasons but it might not be the easiest one to start with.

It has a reputation for being agressive.

So far this has been my only Injector experience and I was not impressed by the ease of the shave that Injectors are aplauded for.

I agree the E may not be the easiest Injector to start with. But the secret of taming the E is SLOW strokes.

I have three Es. One is an E2 with the movable spring, and the other two are E3s. The E2 is pretty aggressive as is one of my E3s, but the other E3 is a good shaver.

This is the E2. The spring moves to the left to allow for cleaning of the head.

This is my good E3. It belonged to my Dad. He made the wooden handle for it. I use it in my rotation.

Injectors are way cool.

Don't know how I attached the attached picture, but it is of the E3 as well. You can see where the spring has been "nailed down."

Pics below of the razor I received. Is this an E2, E3, or an E2A?

My understanding is:
- The E2 has the moveable spring for opening the head / cleaning.
- The E3 moved to a fixed spring and added grooves on the bar.
- Then there was an E2A that was a transition unit.

The safety bar on mine is more of a burnished finish as opposed to grooved IMO.
I'm assuming mine is a fixed spring but then again I've never seen the details to compare a fixed VS moveable spring not how to rotate the spring on the E2's.
