I found this brush in EBay. It says made in London an is an H4. I think it’s a Simpsons brush. Would you use it or reknot it? Looks like some yellowing at the base of the brush and potentially a donut hole in the middle.

I'd use it as is. If it sucks or sheds, I'd sent it to Simpson for reknotting
Give it a wash and comb it out, it might resolve that void.
Plus one on giving it a cleaning and lather it up to see how it pans out before a reknot. Definitely looks like some distortion from being stored improperly.
It's a Harvard, a variant of the PJ with the little cut on the lower part.

It has a lovely bloom on it but does look a little thin in the middle.
Use it just as it is for a while, looks like a fantastic find! Somerset era.

I thought it was a cheap way to get a Simpson handle, I didn’t realize it was special.
