eBay purchase - am I too impatient?

So I bought something on ebay the other week.
Seller had 350+ ratings (10 in the last 6 months), 100% positive feedback and been on eBay since 2001 so I felt pretty comfortable buying.

Auction ended: 10/9.
I got an email from him 10/10 and I paid over Paypal.
Shipping details in the ad says normally ships within 2 business days of payment and that the estimated time of delivery is in two days: 10/16

It's now 10/14 and I have sent two emails asking if he had received the paypal payment ok and if all was ok - but have not heard a beep from him in the past four days.

I know it's a 'long weekend' for many (Columbus day today) but would you yourself be worried/antsy - or...am I too impatient?

Personally I wouldn't worry about it. You have 60 days or something to report a claim to ebay, so you're fine. When I sell on ebay I make sure I am very quick on the shipping on getting back on messages, but not everyone is and thats ok with me. I wouldn't sweat it at this point. I've had things arrive 5 days after the estimated delivery, never really bothers me. Do I want it sooner, sure, but I think patience is a virtue, and its not like I can't live without it in the meantime.

I waited about 2 weeks before I filed a case with ebay when I didnt receive my item. Ebay was prompt and refunded my money within 2-3 days.

Thanks guys. The money is one thing...but I also really want/need that thing this week so I bought it w/ that in mind that it would be received by middle of the week.
Oh well, guess I'll see how it plays out.

Damn eBay, can't live with you...can't live without you...

I waited two weeks before contacting the seller and he realized that he printed the label but forgot to ship the Schick Krona I bought lol. He included a few freebies in the package when he finally sent it.

EBay's dispute policy is 45 days. I miscalculated dates on a purchase, and tried to open a dispute on the 46th day. EBay refused to consider it. Luckily, it was for a very small purchase--about $5.00--but they cut no slack.

It was my bad, and not eBay's fault. Their policy is very clear. Just don't let it go too long, if you decide to dispute.

Well, today after 5 days of silence I finally get a message from the seller saying he has been busy and will get it out by Friday (it's Tuesday today!)...

In his ad it stated 'normally ships w/in 2 business days of receiving payment' and me expected delivery date was..tomorrow.

This means he will HOPEFULLY ship it 8 days after receiving payment.... Maybe I'm asking too much and this is just how eBay is...

Stuff happens. Sometimes it works as expected and sometimes it doesn't. Seller didn't guarantee it would ship in 2 days. According to you it said " normally ships w/in 2 business days". I know you wanted your item this week, but sometimes it's better to buy locally ( if you can) or order sooner if you need it by a certain time.

Speaking of horse butts…
Remember that Columbus day was a postal holiday so nothing gets picked up or delivered. If he mailed in 2 days it might have been Saturday but then again being a weekend he may not have had it packed in time for the mail carrier so it might have had to wait till today.

Depending on when payments arrive and what a persons work/personal schedule it is not always possible for them to meet their usual schedule and an extra day or so gets added in.

lol so you're good at not snitching and keeping sectrets but impatient with mail.

what would you do if the mail man stole your package.... i would imagine that being quite a pickle for you

I know the feeling. As a B&B member some of us have been spoiled by BST and some of our vendors. While I am not the most patient person in the world, in my opinion leaving a negative would be the wrong thing to do if you receive your package in the next five business days.

I'm gonna let it be for another 3-4 days..if still no communication then I'll file a claim.

Can't tell you what it is Christian - it's not christmas yet ;-)

I have to side with you on this one as both a seller and a buyer on the bay and on Etsy. Your seller's behavior is inexcusable in my opinion and I have treated people better on the few trades and PIF's I've done on forums.

I have sold items and when I receive payment, even on a Sunday I get my butt up to the Post Office and get it labeled and in the post toot sweet. Sure, patience is a virtue, I get that. But, there is the lost art of gentlemanly behavior, courtesy, respect, honesty and due diligence when another person gives you the money you asked for.

Your sell is a bum in my opinion. You should have received the tracking information within three days or less. The good thing is that if you paid by PayPal via E-bay, he's not going to be able to touch your funds until they can confirm that you received your item in the mail. You can do several things that were suggested here: Open the claim, wait and receive the item and then hammer him on his rating. Your call of course but I would avoid this guy like the plague and never buy from him again.

Folks, this is no way to treat people no matter if he purchased a thimble or a battleship.

At the two week point I would definitely file a claim. And at this point already I would be leaving less than perfect feedback. If he can't take care of his shipping in a timely manner then he should not be selling on ebay. Period.

And as for the feedback... WAY too many sellers are showing 100% positive feedback. It is getting to be no longer a realistic rating. Nobody is perfect. NOBODY. So how do you get 100% feedback? I don't know... I got it, and I have messed up and made honest mistakes in shipping, for instance letting the clerk at my mail place ship stuff the wrong way. I shouldn't have 100% feedback but I do. And that seller should have worse than me, for sure. You can't tell the good guys from the bad guys if everyone has perfect feedback. I have left negative feedback when I felt I had been jerked around and they always message you with all kinds of insults and threats and stuff. Hey, if you didn't earn positive feedback, you shouldn't EXPECT positive feedback. We need to all be more honest in our feedback so that the rating is a useful buyer tool. Nobody DESERVES positive feedback... they need to EARN it, with exemplary service.

PERFECT feedback should only come with PERFECT service, and no excuses. Your seller, for whatever reason, is giving absolutely horrible service so far. Hopefully he will at least upgrade the shipping and throw in a freebie. I would, even if it meant I was taking a loss. Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you.
