Early aristocrat

Has any of you guys shaved with a early aristocrat? I mean like from the 1915's?
And is it a recommended good shaver?
Id like to get a razor from that early era but i dont know witch to get

They're pretty much the same as a Single Ring. The main difference is aesthetic, but they do have a tiny bit more junk in the trunk, as it were. If you don't already have one, a Single Ring would certainly be cheaper and easier to find just to try something out.

Thanks Mac, So are the single rings something that you would recommend to someone? right now my favorite show is boardwalk empire and i just love that huge gillette billboard from 1922 that says no honing or stroping required.

The Single Ring is definitely something that everyone should at least try. It's a little bit on the unforgiving side -- if you get too steep with your angle it'll let you know in a hurry -- but I think it's good to see where Gillette started out so you can appreciate how their razors developed over time a bit more directly.

1922, however, would have been all about the New Improved Gillettes. They came out in 1921 and replaced the Old Types, like the Single Ring, as the high-end offerings.

Like Porter says, the first Aristocrat shaves exactly like a Single Ring. The only real differences are the cool flared tip and they are much, much harder to acquire. The case was definitely cool, too.

I agree. Truthfully, I think that no shelf is complete without an old type open comb. Yes, it takes some adjustment -- more or less really making sure that you can feel the cap on your face -- but they give excellent shaves when you get the angle right. There are cheap old-type razors (not specifically the single ring) that you can pick up to get the experience. I have a bakelite-handle Con-Rad that shaves identically to the single ring (looks just like it, too), and I think I paid three bucks for it.

Having many aristocrats, I think the late 40s models are my favorites, though, even over the one-piece open combs.
