durham straight with changeable blade question

I only use a DE. Is a durham staight, a total joke to a straight razor user or is there any use for one. I seen a shop that has 50 new blades, for sale and the holder. I just thought I would ask. It seems like a bad design to me, and I dont know much about it. I do know that they wont sell for much, on ebay, but thats with out any blades.

I assume you mean the Durham Duplex. I've shaved with one with a Stanley carpet blade in it, and it's no worse than using a GEM, once you figure out the angle. If it helps you understand it better, it's like an open-comb DE but with the handle out the side instead of the bottom. But like I said, it shaves kinda like an open-comb GEM.

Yeah thats it. It caught my interest, because there are 5o good blades with it. thanks for the information.

Cool. Just remember, if it isn't obvious, that the side you see in the picture above is the one that will be facing out/away from your face. I've seen confusion over this before...
