Duke shedding

I've had my Duke 2 for a few months. It alternates with The Colonel each morning. The Colonel has only ever lost a few hairs, and those right at the start. The Duke on the other hand loses several every time I use it. In addition, The Colonel has a perfect bulb shape, whereas The Duke is a bit lumpy. Should I be worried? What is acceptable shedding, and when should it stop?

Start by contacting the retailer. If you can show them a picture of the shed hairs and the lumpy knot, that may help. They will probably recommend that you comb it out and give it a shampoo.

If that does not help, I think a few months is long enough. I would find losing several hairs per shave disagreeable, especially given the price. I hope the retailer will stand behind your brush.

It's you. :001_rolle It's been going on for a long time.

Doesn't look good for them taking over for the current Rooney knots in T&H brushes

OP.....acceptable shedding for me, is the first few uses and test lathers but usually 5-10 hairs at most. after that, there should be no shedding. sure some of my brushes loose a single hair here and there, but I am never worried about that.

contact the vendor, member if you bought from BST and see what they say. if you don't get the answer you are satisfied with, contact Simpson directly.

Clarification - The T&H brushes are apparently going to start being made with Simpson knots, instead of the current ones which are Rooney.
