drying soap

Do you leave your soap open to dry or just put the lid on it? I have been letting my mwf sit in an open bowl but the Mikes I just received comes in a nice tin.

I usually put the lids back on my soaps that have them. No ill effects so far.
One of my friends leaves theirs open in the mug they use... also no ill effects.
I don't think it matters much.

I do both....I haven't really noticed that it made a difference one way or the other. If it has I lid, I've put it back on or if it's in my bowl, I leave it.

I let it dry out, then I put the lid (if it has one) back on. It would bother the absolute hell out of me to put the lid back on over a puck of wet soap.

What I did when I had Valobra soft soap in a cup was I just sat the cup opening down on a paper tissue on the shelf. That way it's safe from dust but still could dry a bit.

If I'm going to use it the next day, I'll cover it as soon as I'm done. If I'm not, then I dry it overnight before covering.

I use a lot of Old Spice mugs, so I usually have several soaps air drying at the same time. I also am a big Mama Bear fan with several soaps in plastic containers with screw on lids. The lid goes back on after each use. There have been no problems either way.
