Double Ring Razor

Can anyone tell me what makes the double ring so special? I read some posts about how they go for 200 bucks or so. I got curious and googled it expecting to find a piece that made me go "WOW" instead I saw a rather plain looking razor.

What makes the double ring so prized among collectors? what's the historical value?

Just curious, nothing else.

For me, the singe ring and double ring are special because we share the same "birthday", November 15. For the rest of us, take a look at the date chart and I think you'll be able to see for yourself the historical significance of the Double Ring

The Double Ring was the first DE razor Gillette produced.

It goes for good coin due it's collectible status, as well as it's relative rarity: it difficult to find a razor in great condition that is 106 years old!!

Also the number produced should be far less than later razors as Gillette was at that point new to the game, and didn't have much market share yet. The Double Ring was only produced for 3 years (1903-1906)
