Dorco st-300

Hi all,

Is the ST-300 considered a less agressive blade? I am using one for the first time this week and I have gotten a very comfy shave. But, it does not seem to get as close on the first pass as some of the others I have used. Examples would be Derby and Personna Red.

I look forward to the replys. They are always helpful and insightful.

In my experience, it's not the agressiveness of the dorcos so much as the dullness. the 301's are marginally better than the 300's but both tend to pull the hairs rather than cut them IMO.

Then again, if you get a good shave out of them, they're one of the cheapest on the market, so you'll save some $$$

i have found Dorco ST 300's to be a mild blade compared to blades like gilette 7 o'clock sharpedge, super thin platinum, astras SS &SP. I get the best results with this blade in an adjustable dialled up a little more then usual.

I have used the Dorco 300 and 301.. I did not like the 300's they just seemed to pull too much for me. On the other hand the 301 is a decent blade. Just use whatever works best for you. You will discover blades are a very personal thing.

I've found the 301's are "sharper" than their 300 cousins but not as sharp as the Red Personnas. But as said before, whatever works best for you.

The 300 are great for shaving my head as they are not as sharp as other blades, and since my hair on my head isn't nearly as thick as the hair on my face. A great shave with a blade I wouldn't use on my face and don't have to worry about the aggressiveness of the blade.

I am not a fan of either type of Dorco's. While the 301's start out really nice the edge fell apart mid-shave and I ended using a pack of 10 blades in 3 shaves. Never had that in my life before (or after). The 300's are less sharp, even rather dull, but at least the edge lasts a normal number of shaves. Then again; I never use more than 2 passes with those and the results are barely passable (as a SAS).

I am a fan of the both Dorco blades. I boutght 100 ST-300's, I've gone through half of them now. Next time I will get 301's I think they're better even though the packaging is less environmentally friendly...

They are great IMHO. Nearly as sharp as a feather with the smoothness of a Derby.

I don't know where you get your Dorcos, but to me even the ST-301 is about as sharp as a butter knife. Nowhere NEAR a Feather. I can't even imagine saying the names of the two blades in the same sentence.
