Im looking for a new Dopp kit. I kind of like the Izola Dopp Kits that WCS sells but im not completely sold on it yet. Im thinking maybe I should get something leather, I don't know. I have only ever owned one Dopp and it was cheap vinyl and I still think I have it, but its just a one pocket kit. I'm ready for something new, something that's an upgrade, and something manly, easy to clean if ever needed, will hold all my shaving needs and shower needs. Any of you manly men have a Dopp kit you would recommend? I just can't set my mind on one and I want this one to last a long time and look great.

I have two.
One is my long term and it is just a standard 2 compartment "old school" DOPP that I can get a LOT into for months of travel
My second one is my travel light kit which was chosen for the smallest size I could get a razor, blades, brush and shave stick into. For short trips I use vodka as my aftershave.

Short duration DOPP (week or less)

^ would be my suggestion. I really wanted a roll up style with a hanger and multiple pockets to help with organization. When I'm somewhere for a week or two it's nice because it acts almost like a hanging medicine cabinet. Whatever you go with purchasing a nalgene travel bottle set or something similar will help a lot as well.

I had a no name dopp kit that I bought 25 years ago that served me well. I replaced it last fall for no particular reason other than I wanted to get a new one. I ended up going with a very non-traditional dopp kit. I went with the LL Bean medium toiletry bag. It seems to do everything my old one did very well, packs into the same space my old dopp did, and seems like it has loads of room to spare.

I have a leather Dopp kit from the 1960's but it's too small for vacations. I thought about getting a nice one, then decided to go cheap. Who sees it anyway? I think I picked up both of these for under $50 at a place called Stein Mart. My shave gear goes in the little one, shampoo, soaps & some of my wife's stuff in the larger one.

I bought a leather three pocket hanging kit from Levenger about 13 years ago. I travel almost every week and were I to take a little leather cleaner to it, it would look almost new. This may be the best purchase I ever made...well except for some of my shaving gear.
I'm with you. Inexpensive and sensible toiletry bags for me. I tend to check these in my luggage anyway. I like the bags that hang and have a number of watertight (or resistant) pockets.
I have the alligator. I like it so much I think that I should get a back up.
For the price of two alligators, I could just hire someone to carry my stuff around behind me.

Lots of great suggestions here. Sadly some of us are not in the tax bracket to spend $4,200 on a gator bag...yet. 
I love the idea of the hanging bags at the same time I see that I will likely be using my bag more for camping and at hotels where I will likely let it sit out on the sink. Craig, I love your portable shave den there is A LOT in that thing. If I didn't know any better Id think you were using a camera bag but I can clearly see that's not the case. I do think seeing all of these options and what people are using and how they are using them is helping me decide what will and wont work best for me. With the many different varieties I have been looking at Im thinking maybe a smaller traditional style Dopp bag with the addition of a compartment on the under part of the bag. I saw a picture of one of these that had some little bottles of soap, shampoo, etc. tucked away from the main compartment and thought that was kind of cool. Not to mention a nice clean way of keeping my toothbrush separate from my shaving goods. So with a bag like that I can have all the shaving stuff in the main compartment and all my shower and tooth stuff in the bottom compartment.

Home Depot is my friend. They have a huge selection of dopp kits, mis-labeled "tool bags". Cheap and rugged.
Check TJMAXX. Last time I was there they had some cheap ones. One was made by Kenneth Cole and the other was made by Penguin. $10 to $15 and they looked like they were leather or at least made to look it.
Why is it called a Dopp Kit?
Dopp Kit was originally a brand name of a travel shave bag dating from just after the First World War. At some point Samsonite purchased the brand from its founder, and the brand became so ubiquitous that the name 'Dopp Kit' started being used for the entire genre of shave bags, kind of like Asprin which was once a brand name too.
