What's new

Don't knock it till ya try it

Pancakes covered in sausage gravy. My mother introduced this when I was about 8. She already made the pancakes and the sausage, then realized there was no syrup, so she made gravy with the sausage and poured it on the pancakes. I looked at her like "are you serious?", she said "take it or leave it". I took it and have loved it from the first bite. The fact that I'm fat probably has nothing to do with this revelation.:mad3:

Tomorrow night we are having skillet fried chicken and waffles with maple syrup.

Not an odd combo to some, I know, but when I mention it here in the Pacific Northwest I get some odd looks.

This, from people who eat bait wrapped in rice and leaves, and pride themselves on how much they can pay for a cup of foo-foo coffee.

Don't forget the grits!

I never thought of pancakes and gravy, but biscuits and gravy are standard fare, so I don't see why not.

I need to try this, I love biscuits and sausage gravy, so this ought to be great too. Thanks for the idea!

Has to be great. I love sausage gravy over biscuits or potatoes.

I have had it over omelets too, it's good on ANYTHING.

I forgot to mention, they're best if the pancakes are cooked almost burnt. Dark brown, not black, gives the whole dish an awesome flavor.

I miss having the Bob Evans chain here in New England because they have sausage gravy on their menu, served w ithbiscuits. When back in Ohio at Bob Evans, I add grits drenched in real butter, and it is very good.

My father would eat Mashed Potatos mixed with Eggs Over Easy. It would totaly gross out my mother every time.

My wife can't watch me eat bannanas on buttered toast.

I eat lots of weird things, I could go on.

One of the weird things you may like then is the Peanut Butter BLT (no mayo, that's just wrong). We had no mayo one day and mom whipped one of these up when I was a kid, been hooked ever since. Works best with Chunky Adam's Peanut Butter imo.

Sausage gravy + almost anything = a great meal.

(pork fat rules!)
