What's new

Does this mean I'm Wierd?

Went on holiday, and took a Bea Shave stick to save space and weight.

First time I'd used shaving soap, (apart from Wilkinson Sword Tub,) and got a good lather, good shave. Didn't really enjoy the lathering process though. Either Soap to face, Soap to brush..... Meh.

Had read on here about grating soap to make a puck in a bowl..... mmmmm....

So, stick in Freezer for a couple of hours, Cheese Grater, Old Wilkinson Sword Bowl, bit of pressing it down, and I had something that looked like the Wilkinson sword bowl did, but with a far higher quality product.

Here's the bit that made me slightly doubt my sanity.....

Last night, cleaning my teeth before bed, I looked at the Dish and the brush, and had a little thrill of anticipation.

Here at B&B that sort of behavior is common enough, but for the rest of the world you would indeed appear to be an odd duck.
So to answer your question, yes, you are quite weird, but normal (enough) for us who would post on a shaving forum.

I clean my teeth before bed most nights. I think it's normal.

The freezing thing... Just saw it somewhere, Something to do with not overheating the soap with the friction of the grater.

Probably a load on nonsense. :)

I would've said that is weird 3 months ago before i started DE shaving and actually enjoying my shaves. Now I am thrilled when I get a chance to shave... and yes I do occasionally spot my soap and feel a little excitement.

So either its perfectly normal, or you're in the good company of a lot of weird people. Either way I wouldn't worry about it too much

Overheating the soap with a cheese grater. Yes, whoever thought of that is weird.

What is this? A thrill from just looking at your soap/brush/razor/blades/den/ASB/ . . . . any possible thing you see that is shaving related. Welcome home. This is the perfect (and most sane) reaction for any B&B member. But you must be careful, this constant stimulation of your "pleasure" center may lead to side effects such as SBAD, RAD, BAD, CAD, SAD, etc. and may also lead to your membership of groups like LOBOS, BOTOC, and many others.

But yes, that is a normal reaction and one that makes this entire "lifestyle" worth it and pay more dividends than a freshly shaved face and any money you might acutally shave compared to cartridges (assuming you get your AD in check)!

Considering that I thought your next sentence would have something about you using your shaving soap as tooth soap*... then nope, you must not be weird. :)

*Yes, it's a real thing. No, it's not as gross as you might think.

Anyway, no, you're not: I am lamenting the fact that I only shave my legs and therefore will take much longer to try out all of the new soaps and creams I have coming (and much longer to use them up so I can get more...). I just looked at my legs and realized I would be hard-pressed to find a reason to shave more than once a week since the hair just doesn't grow that fast. :( Since I ordered a couple soaps and a couple creams, and assembled my own "sampler pack" of blades that comprises probably at least 50 blades... it's entirely possible that what I just ordered will last years and years (unless I start consciously trying to waste product/blades). *sob*
