Does Osma Shaving Soap work better after is oxidized and turned golden brown?

I'v had a puck of Osma soap around for over a year, and over that time it has gone from a pail yellow to a golden brown. When I got the stuff I could not lather it to save my life, but now that its aged a bit I can get a passable lather out of it with out all that much fuss. It still smells like the shake at the bottom of a can of peanuts, but it works well enough now. Some of it is practice for sure, but I dont get the days where it just wont lather anymore, some of it feels like its a chemical change. If you read his discription Jarrod at TSS seemed to need to let his puck age a bit before it evened out for him as well.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with this odd duck of a soap?
