Does my nose deceive me or does Tabac...

Gentlemen,

I've been trying to figure out one of my favorite scents for a while now. My palate is pretty good, but I'm not one of those wine guys who find leather, licorice, cherry, chocolate, etc. in every borolo I quaff.

So I've been breaking down Tabac slowly. I get the tobacco and hint of spice among the great muddle that is Tabac. The rest has escaped me. Until tonight.

I swear I smell a strong undertone of Lilies of the Valley. Anyone else get this or have I had too many margaritas tonight?

I'm not a great "nose" either, but here's the profile from another site

Top notes are aldehydes, lavender, neroli, bergamot and lemon

middle notes are carnation, sandalwood, orris root, jasmine, rose and pine tree needles

base notes are tonka bean, amber, musk, vanilla, oakmoss and tobacco.

My guess is your picking up the carnation.

Why does it feel like my doppelganger has already read this thread in an alternate universe?

Deja Vous all over again!

I took a whiff of some Tabac cologne Saturday at JR's in Burlington, NC. With all the talk around here about it, I was sorely disappointed. SWMBO told me that I could forget about going home if I bought any. No need to worry dear, I will never buy that!

You left the magic Tabac corner of the men's fragrance counter without a jugful of EdC? Man, I hope you nabbed something good. If only JR sold shaving soap and cream.

Their prices for the higher end stuff are definitely good. I thought about the Drakkar, but since I am not much of cologne person anyhow, I was more interested in the AS. I liked the Royall Bay Rum, though. We ended up buying someone a Christmas present instead.

If they did sell soaps and creams, I probably would have bought something.
