Do you shave closer on one side of your face than the other?

I am right handed and always seem to shave that little bit closer on the left side of my face.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed anything similar.

I am right handed, and with a DE, my WTG pass always ends up closer on the right side of the face.

I noticed the same thing. After paying close attention one morning I deemed the problem to be how I was holding the razor. The grip I was using was rather uncomforteble and hard to hold at the correct angle. After making an adjustment to my grip, I now notice no real difference from right to left.

I have the same problem. I think it may be the way I am holding the razor as was suggested by JLA334.

I had the same problem with straight razors. I learned to be 85% ambidextrous and worked on my grip and now they are both the same.

My "backhand" is better than my "forehand," not necessarily CLOSER but almost always more comfortable and less irritating. That is to say, as a right-handed person, the shave is easier and more natural on the LEFT side of my face.

I wonder if it's easier to accidentally add more pressure on the "forehand side."

I'm right handed too, and I always start on the left side of my face. That side always seems to be closer. Go figure, I don't think I do anything different on either side. I guess its one of those things we'll never find an answer to. I always have to do some extra polishing and blade buffing on that right side.

Not a closer shave exactly, but until the other day, I was having a lot of irritation using one side of the blade using a straight. (Which isn't the same thing as one side of the face, since I use either hands on either side, depending on where.) Turns out, the return stroke when stropping was off, so one side of the blade was always rough.

Maybe you guys should try using the off hand with the DE. If you haven't done much with your off hand, you might be surprised at the things you can eventually learn to do better than with your dominant hand. I used to play drums, and tried absolutely everything with my off hand. Except for writing, a lot of things my off hand did better were balance related, not so much intricate, but requiring a gentle touch. Shaving is kind of like that. Give it a try for a month.

Right-handed here. I only have hair above and below the lip. For me, the right side of my chin is often gets a closer shave but the opposite happens for the whiskers above the lip. I wonder how things will turn out if I shaved my cheeks (hairs are thinner and camouflages with my skin colour so I leave them alone).

I used to (tho I am left handed) but found with time and improvement of technique that I can obtain the same result on both sides now.

Right-handed, and my left side always has a closer shave. I've only been shaving for two months though, so I guess I'll just give it time.

Right handed, always closer shave on the left side too. Glad I'm not the only one! I've been using the "dart" grip and forcing myself to do it on both sides even though it's nat at all comfortable on the right. I'm going to change that tomorrow.
