What's new

Do you hoard blades?

I don't hoard them but I do have a moderate supply (1200-1400). Actually I will need lots more before I want to stop shaving......

Whenever there is a good deal on blades I like, the stash grows a little.

I bought 100 red personnas. I am using them. I am not buying more blades until I see some great deal, or use up most of the batch in hand now. No, I am not hoarding blades.

It is a good idea, though. I hoard enough other stuff. Blades are small and do not take up much space. Hmmmm.

I just order 100 at a time and they last me a good while. I don't keep different kinds of blades, I've found the one that works for me and that's what I keep.

Here's a question: Why not? You're gonna get around to using them eventually, right? I've got enough to last me until i'm ROUGHLY 30.. I've got about 1200 DE's and 100 misc. carts and 200 coming in, so actually maybe 32-34 (Gosh, I can't even imagine being that old..), but I figure if I shave until i'm 60, I need 3k-4k more blades. Hoard now before they stop making em'!

And after 60, they will have those George Jetson shaving pills to suppress your beard.

I have just under 300 (been using them)--its just cheaper to buy them in 100 lots--if I want to try a new blade--I buy 100.

DE shaving isn't exactly a mainstream thing--having extra blades around isn't a bad thing---eventually I'd like to have 1000 of my prefered blade on hand---not like thats going to break the bank or anything.

And yes--I'm a hoarder---you should see all TP--soap--food-- ect I have stashed---I always save ahead for any hard times and rotate the stock.

I hoard blades in general because I'm a hoarder. Seriously, this kind of thing may be partly a rational decision, but a large part of it is temperament.

To the extent that it's rational, I hoard injector and SE blades because there is a real chance of them becoming unavailable in my lifetime. I'm less concerned about DE blades, but have quite a few of them anyway.

Based on my most pessimistic estimate, I have enough injector and SE blades together to last me until I'm 78, and with a little more optimism, into my mid 80s. That's not even counting the DE and cartridge shaves which I'll still take along the way.

I always buy them in the hundreds due to price however I stocked up on the Iridiums before they went out of sale.

I have been hoarding Gillette Atra-type cartridges lately. Wal-Fart has those 10-packs of Wilkinson Swords for $3.79 each ($.38 per cartridge). Yesterday I found 6-packs at Dollar General (made by Dorco I assume) for $1.25 each ($.21 per cartridge).

I will do the same when 2-bladed Gillette Sensor-type cartridges become available which I hope Wilkinson Sword will do soon and have at Wal-Fart and other fine retailers.

I look at it as buying into blade futures.

For me, and depending where you live, sometimes it's hard to find these types of blades, so whenever you find them, you stock up...i'm lucky that i have now 3 different types of blades that i can find at the pharmacie (they are nothing special, just okay..) so if i find some realllly good blades, then i will stock up .....

BUT

I don't mind selling them off if i can..
