Dirtybird scuttle questions

Well the time has come for me to get a scuttle, and after looking between Moss, Georgetown, and Dirtybird, I'm set to get a Dirtybird. I just haven't decided on which one yet. I also had what seems to be a rather silly question, "Is the brush supposed to be kept in the spout for the lather to be kept good and warm?" Just looking at the Dirtybird Brush Scuttle and the Dirtybird Shaving Scuttle the only way the brush could be kept warm in the brush scuttle is if it was from the heat coming through the bowl below it.

I just want to make sure I am correct in assuming with the shaving scuttle the lather is kept warm through the lather bowl and not by keeping the brush in the spout.

The only other question I have is those that have the Dirtybird Brush Scuttle, is it hard to fit some of the larger brushes into it? I read that it gets hard to fit in brushes past a 22mm knot, so I was wondering about that. I think eventually I'm going to have some massive brushes, so would be good to know.

You keep it in the dry bowl. The spout is for refilling and wetting the brush while (face) lathering. You don't want your brush to soak up more water after you've created the perfect mix.

Every scuttle works the same:
1. Fill everything with hot water
2. Place your brush in the top bowl
3. Prepare your other stuff so the brush can warm up
4. Throw out all of the water
5. Refill the lower, but NOT the upper bowl with hot water
6. Flick the brush to get rid of the excess water
7. Start building your lather in the scuttle if you have a large or on your face if it's a brush scuttle.

I have a large scuttle (other brand, schwarzweisskeramic) and a dirty bird brush scuttle. I heavily favor the brush scuttle nowadays and love to face lather.

Wow talk about a fast response! Thanks Oxi that's what I was thinking, but I just wanted to make sure. Will definitely help me narrow down which I want to do. Just so many different things to try and so few days to shave in...

there's one on offer in the bst if you were to pm him with a sensable offer I'm pretty sure he would accept it
And you would proberly have it mid week. Be sure to make a sensable offer though as silly offers often offend lol
I also have to say the one on bst is a 2x size so its twice the size of the standered size scuttle. And is a fine example
of the db products. This would make a fine addition to anyones shaving den. For the right price

Yeah I had forgotten I had seen that just a few days ago. Hard to say if I would want to go for that. I was still considering the color I wanted as well as the type, plus I'm pretty sure I'd like it to be a two piece if I got the shaving scuttle and not the brush scuttle. Hmm.... Decisions, decisions... lol Might make it harder to decide but thanks for pointing that out!

hey no probs i was only pointing it out as he has no claimed, quite sensably, to be open to offers and it is a very nice piece, but yes, i also would preffer a one piece, less for me to drop lol

Thanks for the help all, I finally made a decision! I just ordered a blue double sized shaving scuttle from Julie at Dirty Bird a few minutes ago. Can't wait to get it. I would've bought the one that was in the BST, but I hadn't finalized my decision until just a bit ago, and it finally sold by then. That's ok though, I'm sure that who bought it also really wanted the additional lather bowl, and frankly, I'd feel a bit sad letting such a lovely piece go unused.
