Did I ruin my soap?

Please forgive me, I'm still relatively new at all this. I have a refill puck of tabac soap but nothing to put it in. I read on here that if it is a glycerin based soap you can melt it in the microwave so that you can put it in a container. I quickly scanned the ingredients and saw glycerin listed so I went ahead and tried it. I know now that it is indeed a tallow soap and I should have grated it but hindsight is 20/20 right?

Well, it kind of foamed up and got a little ugly, but I pressed it into a dish and let it cool. I tried a lather with it and it seemed to lather okay, about like it did before. If anything, I think the smell may be less apparent.

I guess I have read several threads that say not to microwave a tallow soap but nothing about what will happen. So my question is, did I ruin it?

Thanks Guys!

All soaps contain some glycerine... it is a part of the saponification process.

Those that you can melt in the microwave are commonly referred to as "melt and pour", and are normally clear or translucent, though there are some exceptions such as Col Conk, VDH, and Ogallala.
Tabac and MWF are tallow based soaps, same as typical bath soap, and can not be safely melted in the microwave.
