department store don'ts

this is why I refuse to buy shoes from Nordstrom Rack: I stopped by today to check out their usual selection of ties, shirts & suits, but decided to browse the shoe section to see if anything decent came up. to my horror I saw a guy without socks trying on several pairs of shoes with his disgusting, dried up looking gargoyle feet. normally germs don't bother me as I tend to wash my hands on a regular basis, but when someone puts their nasty feet into every other shoe it makes me want to vomit. foot fungus anyone?

is there anything you wished people wouldn't do when you're out and about shopping for clothes? got any funny stories?

I wish the other people didn't even go to the store. That way I would not have to deal with:

- Seeing them (putting their gross feet into a pair of shoes)
- Smelling them
- Hearing them
- Waiting in line behind them
- etc

gargoyle feet:lol::lol:

I thought Nordies handed out short nylons. At least they do that at my local Nordies. That is just plain disgusting.

I worked in a clothing store while I was in college, truly I heard of and observed first hand some truly disgusting things.

I will not set foot in a clothing store unless they:

Are impeccably clean and well merchandised, and

Have an excellent security detail. The bathrooms better be spotless as well, tho I tend to avoid them--see sentence #1.

I will only buy shoes from a shoe store with a shoe salesperson. I tend to buy shoes only from Alden in SF, so I'm covered.

I stay away from discount anything, as it is not worth my time digging through the dreck to find one gem.

I can tell you stories of department store madness. And shockingly, they are all true!

A salesperson told me that a customer entered the store on Black Friday to return the cookware and tableware that was used for Thanksgiving...with the food on the utensils! The salesperson paged a manager to deal with the situation and left the area.

There was a woman who was shopping for shoes, and decided to shop while needing to use the restroom. She couldn't hold herself, and was inadvertently letting go on the selling floor. To make matters worse, there were other customers shopping and passing through as though nothing was going on.

We like to make a joke that she saw the selection of shoes and prices, and lost all control of her bowel movement.

All of those can be tiresome, but smelling other people's funk is outright annoying.
