Decent shave possible with Sextoblade with guard?

I am considering to bid on a Weck Sextoblade on Ebay. I would like to find if shaving with a straight razor is something for me.
Is it possibble to get a decent shave with the guard on the Sextoblade?

I've tried several Sextoblades and I think the best of the bunch is the black one with the longer scales.

Sextoblades will provide a great shave. The guard can work great, and will certainly help you figure out the angle you need to use. To be honest, I used mine a lot more without the guard, but both ways work. I use Fromm blades from Sally's, and have no complaints. Nowadays, the Sextoblade just hangs out in the back of my razor box, along with the leftover Fromm blades...

Love the Weck razors, but I've never used the guard.

I did not win the Sextoblade, but the second object I placed a bid on is the winner. A Weck hairshaper with a guard. Shipment will take a few weeks, because I live in The Netherlands.

The sextoblade has been great for me. In my first attempts to shave prior to buying a weck, in the process of finding the right angle and hand position, I would find that I had cut myself resting the blade on my face!.. Lessons learned! The Weck with guard is allowing me to find my way (Im a slow learner evidently) without the accidental wounds. Im surprised at how close I can get with the guard on.
