DE Razor Restoration

After hearing of my newfound love for DE shaving my Dad broke out is old stash containing a SS, and a ball end tech- both in need of a little love. Besides a general cleaning I see green spots on the silver handle. Can anyone point me to threads that I am sure already address restoration issues or give me your best tips on getting these vintage razors in tip top shape from cleaning to polishing. Thanks.

Short of getting an ultrasonic cleaner, try an overnight soak in simple green (I use it full-strength) and then scrub them down with an old toothbrush -- most of the crud should come off. Overnight soak in dish-soapy water would probably help, too.

Scrubbing bubbles works pretty well. Cover them with foam, let 'em sit for 5 minutes, and scrub 'em down with that old toothbrush. Do that a few times and see what you get.

There are about a dozen cleaning threads, and you should be able to find them, but those are two that have worked for me.

Hope it helps,

Matching that old toothbrush up with its good friend toothpaste for some scrubbing works pretty well, too. By the way, before and after pics would be awesome if it's possible.:thumbup1:
