I don't rotate often, as I mostly use straights. I do throw in an occasional DE shave, especially when I'm in a hurry. I do use a DE to shave my head, so I always have one ready to go.

Yes, I'll alternate between the two. If I'm rushed for time I'll use my DE, the straight is for when I have the time. I'm still working on my technique for straights, but its getting better. I can do an entire straight shave with no blood unless I lose focus or try to rush things.
Sometimes after I do a DE shave I'll cleanup any rough spots with my straight, so I'll be using both for the same shave. At times, right after a DE shave and while my beard is still soft from the shave, I'll even do a water cleanup with the straight. I'll do this right after I'm done with the DE and had my hot water rinse. If I feel any rough spots I'll hit them with the straight. This really gets a nice close finish to my shave, and I'm able to do it without any irritation. It works for me, but as with anything shaving, YMMV.
I am just learning the ways of the straight, and I don't use it 100% of the time. I like variety, and use straights, DE, SE, Injectors, and even a Trac II.
I have even used the new Schick Hydro 3 on occasion.
