Damn Comfortable Shave

Chan Eil Whiskers

Fumbling about.
Sunday's shave was simple and pretty quick.

Here's the view from where we ate lunch yesterday. Good food, too.

Supper was even better. Amazingly fresh and perfectly cooked shrimp. We use the world's best seafood market. They have their own boats and only sell seafood they eat themselves. We've been dealing with the same man for years.

Shea butter last night. Tube. Mysterium Serum.

Proline (1). Very sharp and smooth.

Happy shaves,

Jim, not that it matters all that much, you might consider having the mods move this thread to the journal and diaries forum. It has so much information that you’ve compiled over the years to not see as much traffic as the journal and diaries forum is seeing these days.

I’ve learned so much from you over the years, and I think others would as well.

I've often thought the same thing, Jim. I really appreciate your posts and this would be great for the Journals & Diaries forum.

Blessings, my friend.

Eric
Jim @Chan Eil Whiskers - This makes sense. Your thread is more incredibly informative Journal than Newbie Check-in. :)

Wednesday. A good shave.

I've been lazy the last week or so. Skipped a lot of shaves, etc.

This morning's shave removed several days of whisker growth, and was pleasant and effective.

I've been using this brush and also the small D01 two band pictured a few shaves back. For some reason, some of my photos are currently unavailable.

The extreme south end of this island is totally undeveloped. Yesterday morning my wife and I took a walk to see the sights there. I enjoyed the beautiful little flowers, etc.

Certainly this is not news. The water used for shaving makes a huge different to the shaves.

Maybe I should move to the beach so my shaves would be easier and better?

I've not kept track of how many shaves I've gotten so far with this Proline blade. Not very many compared with its capacities, but all of them have been very good which is largely due to the water here.

Good kit includes the best water?

I also used the Tube as a preshave, having not washed my face, and I used Mysterium Serum post shave.

In most of my photos of this little brush, just 22 mm, the Shavemac looks like a fan to me, but it is definitely a flat top.

Last night we were treated to be best and longest displays (plural) of fireworks I've ever seen. You could leave the show, go take a shower, and still return to the deck to watch fireworks light up the night sky long enough to get bored. Fortunately I love fireworks on the 4th!

Happy shaves to you,

I like that brush, Jim.

Happy Friday, sir!

That’s All State’s stand.

Softer water has made positive differences in closeness and comfort and blade longevity for a few folks that have been posting on these forums over the years. Moving to the coast full time might have to do if you feel bottles of spring water are too wasteful

Monday morning's shave removed all the growth accumulated since Friday.

The major change in my kit was in the water.

I'm now back home from the beach. Too bad I don't have the same water at home!

The Tube was used both to wash my face in the shower and as a preshave. Mysterium Serum was used post shave as I really needed it having over done my soul patch.

The bathroom I usually use has great light unlike the others in my old house. However, that bathroom in undergoing renovation, and is out of commission, so I had to shave with inadequate light. This situation won't be fixed for a while, at least that's how things appear, so maybe I'll get used to shaving in the dark?

What a nice brush!

Happy shaves,

Jim

Tuesday. A better shave than Monday's.

I'm not sure I have a better brush!

This morning, having suffered a little yesterday, I used a significantly lighter hand, to my great advantage.

Tube in the shower and as a preshave. (My Cube is currently lost. A bathroom renovation issue.)

Shea butter last night.

Happy shaves,

Jim

Wednesday. Continuing a trend with AC razors, but switching to the SS DLC Hawk, putting the head on the same Tibam titanium Radiator handle I've been using, partly to control variables.

7-10-24.HawkDLC.Mike's.ZenCopMan.640j..jpeg

Are there any AC safety razors which aren't terrific? Surely there are. I've not tried all of 'em, but the ones I've used, particularly including the Blackland Vector titanium, the original Colonial General, and the ATT X3 slant, have razors heads which deliver a close, comfortable shave and are easy to use. I'm not a fan of the Vector's too skinny handle which is why I returned the razor, but the Vector head is very similar, in the shave it delivers, to the excellent X3.

If you wanted to argue that this SS DLC Hawk is the best of the batch I'd be hard pressed to contest your point of view.

It's been a while since I've used my other ATT AC razors, but I remember them as excellent, too. One of them might be a tad much, but it's been a long time since I used it much.

In any case, the AC platform rocks.

Today's Zenith Manchurian brush is an old favorite. It's always been a favorite, but now that it is super well broken in, it is even better. Very soft, but with huge backbone, and with delicious scrub.

Shea butter last night. Tube in the shower and as a preshave. Same Proline I've been using for a couple of weeks.

Very nice shave!

Happy shaves to you,

Jim

My AC razors have become my favorites. :001_wub:

Regarding the Ti Vector SB handle: With the nerve damage in my neck, I can't grip the stock handle. That's why I use Doug’s 25g GTC handle. For me, a match made in Heaven. :001_wub:

When I use my AC razors I wonder why I keep any others.

That doesn't mean I'm giving up on the better DE razors, but I surely question myself.

Sorry to hear about the nerve damage, David, but I'm glad you found a great solution.

I have a couple of Doug's custom handles, too, and love them for what they are as well as because they remind me of Doug. Hard to believe he's gone.

Happy shaves,

Jim
