No quite true to say "no samples have been traditionally available from the company." C&S has a wonderful sample package, for free if I recall, and mine included 88. But reports are it is hard to ge C&S to actually send one such a package. I think I had to ask more than one. I can't really complain, but I think others have had lots more trouble.

I assume that B&B benefits from this effort and that by itself is a good reason to participate in it.

By selecting option i) Europe in shipping the cart system has charged me $44.95
I contacted Scott in the AOL email and I still haven't heard from him yet.
We Europeans might as well just just forget it...

So, I went to Cech & Speake online store and ordered a 90 grams soap refill. Do you want to guess how much would cost to ship a 90 grams soap from the UK to Portugal? 20 UK pounds plus VAT, doubling the soap cost. This is silly...
