Custom TGN/Fat River Trading Company 22mm 2 Band Brush

After seeing the really cool handle from Fat River Trading Company in this thread (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showth...iber-Knot-in-brush-Also-a-Wee-Scot-competitor) I had to buy one. My original plan was to buy a Muehle "Silvertip Fibre" synthetic knot, however it was starting to reach into the Simpson/Shavemac range by the time everything would be done so I decided to go with a TGN 22mm 2 Band knot instead and the handle is white teak wood. I'm really glad I did, the brush kinda has a Semouge Owners Club 2 Band vibe going on for me and I really dig it. I lathered it up and I think this brush and I are going to be the best of friends soon. I'll update the review tomorrow once I've used the brush.

A note on Curt from Fat River Trading Company: Honestly he is one of the most genuine and kind people I have purchased something from. He worked with me along the whole process of making the brush to ensure I would be satisfied with the final product, including when I made the switch to a different knot. His price was EXTREMELY reasonable, I would not hesitate at all to order from him again. (I am not affiliated with Curt at all, just an extremely satisfied customer)

That's one sexy brush! Love the way the variations in the wood grain catch the light differently. Congrats on the acquisition.

I echo what you said about Curt. He was a pleasure to work with, and even when my handles arrived and I was getting squeamish about marring the finish while trying to drill it out slightly (I changed my mind after he had already shipped the handles), he sent me a lengthy note describing several ways I could tackle the problem without damaging the handle. Other vendors may have just said "well, good luck."

Back up - you can buy the Muhle silver tip synthetic knots? I have one of the brushes. Love the knot; hate the handle.

Awesome brush, by the way. That shape is all class.

Yeah you can, they used to be fairly cheap but I think they caught on and now it's almost $40 for the 21mm knot by the time they ship it to you.

I have your brushes fat cousin. I got mine from bobfavour, but I couldn't help but notice how much the look alike

I love mine, the TGN Finest is awesome. Glad you are liking yours too!

Hahahah that is really cool, they look almost exactly the same!

That picture is actually pretty "flattering" for the brush. It is a 26mm knot. It's a fat little bastard, but does some great work.

What the hell soap is that? I've never seen any lather look like that. It looks like Insulation.

That handle looks like a pretty comfortable way to make a tall brush.

Yeah I was a little scared too, it's Kiss My Face Lavender, but even with a healthy amount of water it came out like that. It was sitting in my closet for about a year now so maybe that has something to do with the strange consistency.

It really is a great handle, my fingers fit in the dip perfectly and it makes the brush a joy to use.
