What's new

Custom Shavemac Whitetip Ebony arrived!

So I've been busy reading older threads and picking everyone's brains the last couple of weeks. I'll repeat what I was after:

"For my primary brush I want small & firm (precise; no mops), soft and scritchless (makes me think silvertip) and quickly creates and easily releases lather (enough for just 1-pass + touch-ups)."

And with your help I came up with this:
44140 Custom Shaving Brush Ebony said:
Silvertip
Knotsize: 22 mm
Loft Length: 48 mm
Total Height: 99 mm
Shape: bulb
Handle: Makassar Ebony with Nickel
Handle height: 51mm
Logo: none

And here she is (sorry about quality, just pics from my phone):

First impressions:
I gave her a whirl tonight and boy does she dance. Very happy with the handle weight and length. I have to pat myself on the back here as this is an elongated version of their handle w/ nickel only seen on a couple models. Very hard to capture the grain of ebony, even to the naked eye with incandescent lighting the grain detail is very dark. I have to say the backbone of the Shavemac silvertip is just what I wanted. While at work I was worrying about the 22 knot but now that I've used it I think I nailed it. It's great for face lathering, readily released the lather from what I can see, and looks a stunner.

Thanks for all the kind words, gents. I'll attempt to do a bowl lather series tomorrow. In the meantime I found a real camera and attempted a couple more shots:

No one is going to comment on that lather cotton candy ball? I was quite proud of that!

As that was a test lather for the photo, the following day I tried lathering up MWF the same way and it was crap! It just spread the lather around and went thin. Turns out I have hard water and MWF is better to face lather. No matter, as the founding member of the Cult of Palmolive I had a brilliant shave the last couple days. Sorry lads but I just have to give this one more bump for Friday.

Stay smooth!

No need to be sorry and I'm glad you did! I just saw this. Beautiful brush, truly. Congratulations! Great pics of the lather too by the way. That lather looks absolutely perfect.

Beautiful brush! My MWF lather doesn't go like that at all. I get some suds while loading and good volume at one minute lathering. I never get as much as you have at two minutes though. It must be a difference in water...my brush is a good bit bigger too. Maybe much of the lather is trapped in my brush.

Anyhow, Congrats!
