Current shave routine, telegraph style

So here's a place to succinctly describe the main points you're focusing on in your shave routine. Ultra-brief like an old-time telegraph message (see below).
When you change your routine (like I often do!) feel free to re-post. This can become a quick and fun-to-read resource to see what others are up to,

I'll start:

Funny thing. The clerk mis-spelled "Orville" as "Orevelle." It's funny because it doesn't really change anything; "I" is two dits, "E" is one in both Continental and Morse codes.

Hi,

Well, you need another inter element time for two Es as opposed to one I.... ;)

When I read the title of the thread, I thought maybe someone had a razor made from a J38 straight key.....

Me, I use Bill Nye Speed-X keys. One a Deluxe and the other a Master Key. I never liked bugs and never saw the need for a set of paddles. 25 WPM is fine by me, and that's within the straight key capability.

There is that.

My favourite key is a Nye Deluxe that my mother gave me for Christmas when I was 16. It's hammered out a lot of contacts, and I keep it plugged in next to whatever else I'm using as a bailout. "Whatever else I'm using" could be a bug (I have a couple of very nice verticals, an old-style Japanese coffin bug, my old Vibroplex and a left-hander just for grins). It could also be a sideswiper. I have not used an electronic keyer since 1978.

On the non-radio side I have a couple of Menominee KOB setups that I've used on the wire. Somewhere I have the microphone for the rig, but I've never used it. :)

Hi,

At the risk of turning this thread into:

I also have a J38 key that clamps to my leg. It was my Dad's during WWII as he was a radio op in the ETO. He taught me the code, even though he never had an interest in ham radio. Same guy taught me to shave a few years later. :)

My uncle (dad's older brother WB2ZSO) got me interested when I was eight. He bought me that Nye Deluxe. And I hammered out DXCC on the old Novice bands on 80m and 40m with it. And I still use it on my primary HF rig. The Nye Master Key is on the old HF rig and used only on 160m. And this part has bored everyone else in the thread. Sorry.

For those still awake and reading, my dad and I would practice every night after dinner. He'd use his old key and we'd have the oscillator in the middle of the table, and I'd use that then brand new Nye key. He'd send an article out of the newspaper to me, then we'd compare what I copied. Then, I'd send one to him.

Anyway, to bring this back to shaving, I have this wild idea. Next hamfest I'll pick up a cheap key and turn the armature (the part that goes up and down that one works) into a razor handle. :p

Maybe a brass as opposed to plated handle. ;)

We do call it Pounding The Brass, after all. And I have several unplated brass razor caps and baseplates.

Karve brass, plate c, short handle, GSB blade, Dove fragrance-free hand soap applied by lathering in hand and putting on face by hand (this is horrifying to many, I expect, but that's how I roll)

Still rocking Yaqi slant head discovered additional benefit of short quick strokes while just riding cap makes for a very clean shave indeed
