Cremo now at Rexall (Canada)

Just noticed at my local Rexall that they now carry Cremo -first time I've seen it in Canada. It's 8.99 for the 6 FL oz size I believe. I've never used it and I'm going to wait awhile as alot of times these new products don't catch on and get discounted in a few months.

Cool - didn't realize this was an american product. Always thought it was from the UK for some reason. I will check it out.

Also, just curious, but how does one get their product into a national chain? Is it via trade shows or just with persistence?

typically national sales rep from the seller talking to a buyer at head office of the store chain to open the doors to the retailers carrying the product.

Then often territory reps work with individual store owners on displays, signage, how many SKUs to stock etc

All the mom and pop drugstores of my youth were Rexall, but I can't think of a single one in the Halifax area. Shopper's Drug Mart, London Drugs( out west), Pharmasave and Lawton's (at least here in the east) are the big players in Canada.

I used to work for London Drugs (a western Canadian chain), and all you have to do to get on their shelves is to give up your margin, abandon all hope of profitability, and ...

Well, then it gets painful. Trying to bump an established sku from the shelves is an uphill battle.

Rexall is present in most of the smaller markets. If you can build up a customer base, then you might be able to grow from there.

I use Cremo, BTW, and I think it's a great product.

Cheers,
Ian

I bought mine from a Canadian online retailer for $13.95 + shipping. Rexall's price is $8.99, it's readily available and you don't have to wait for it to show up at your door. No need to wait for a discount in my opinion... sounds like a darn good deal to me.
