Creed Vetiver 48 Alternative

My girlfriend loves Creed's Vetiver 48 but I'm not about to shell out the money to find a bottle. Has anyone found something similar to it that's reasonably priced? I think the ginger is what she likes about the Creed.

Thanks!

The Original Vetiver is (said to) have more ginger.
And Basenotes posters, report that Mugler is close to Creed Vetiver.
Most important, is she a keeper and worth the $$'s?

That's a pretty picture.

I'll have to try some samples as per usual. She's a keeper but I also wouldn't buy anything I don't like. I steal sniffs of my Vetiver 48 sample all the time, I hope the OV smells just as classy and not too young. I like the distinguished gentleman style.

From what I'd read on Basenotes it seems that the OV is a lot fresher, not to say that I won't like it but I'm not sure it's what I want to spend my money on.

I agree, OV is really a fresh scent with ginger, bergamot and a nice sandalwood and musk in the dry down. It was my first Creed and I also used the equivalent shaving soap.

I have to say though that anything with the words "Creed" and "original", you might as well assume there is nothing original about the fragrance. Same goes for Original Santal I guess as it's nothing as good as its predecessor (from what I've heard).

Not sure I can recommend something as close to Vetiver 48 (the sample I received may have been dodgy), but there are plenty of vetivers out there that are superb these days.

I'm a fan of both OV and Vetiver 48. Not similar at all.

'48 does indeed have a ginger note that I've not run across in any other vetiver scents. It has to me a very smooth, fresh, mineralic Mad Men kind of vibe. I like it enough that I paid a premium for my last 50ml bottle. Has developed into one of my most worn and as such, kicking myself for not scoring a flacon of this when it was still available.

OV is Creeds modern take on vetiver. Very fresh and soapy. Quite nice.
