Cracks in my Omega?

I'm new to using a brush and bought a cheap Omega boar brush months ago and it sees daily use. This morning I was starting my routine and noticed a crack in the plastic handle on both sides coming from the bristles and about half way down. I'm more curious than upset, have begun the process of replacing the thing anyway...but what would cause the failure? I shake the water out, dry the bristles on my towel, and hang it in the rack it came with. I'm thinking about not having this happen with the badger version I'm looking at buying. This common or am I missing something? Thanks in advance! ~Joe

Wow, I've never heard of a plastic one cracking under normal use. You're using the same routine I use after shaving as well. If it wasn't dropped or anything I'd have to assume manufacturers defect.

Are the cracks in the handle or in the black 'ring' (actually the top of the cup holding the knot together) just above the handle? Only one of my Omega's has this too but the issue popped up before on B&B.

I think the reason is that the knot absorbs water that let the hairs swell so much that the pressure on that plastic cup gets too much; this would mean that there are simply too many hairs put into your brush. As long as the handle itself doesn't crack you are still good to go for quite some time I think.

Thanks for your replies; the crack is on the handle exactly the same length (vertically) on both sides. It would make sense the bristles being packed too densly could exert pressure enough to cause damage. Now - to begin the process of finding a replacement!
