Cover yo Shizz - Um, I mean Soap

After a refreshing shave do you cover your soap container or do you let it air in the breeze? I obsessed about the perfect container and settled on a porcelain ramekin. Then I went on a mission to find the perfect cover and found a silicone rubber lid. The idea here is to preserve the faint scent of rose in my soap puck. I've been brush shaving for many years but until recently used cream only. Open or closed? Any thoughts?

I cover all of my soaps. Almost all are stored in round plastic containers with screw-on lids.

As I see this is your first post- Welcome to B&B!

Thanks for the warm welcome. Brush shaving came to me when I moved to Madrid where aerosol foam was rare. I bought an inexpensive brush and a tube of LEA and never looked back. A bad experience with Caswell-Massey soap put me off soaps for a very long time. Then I came across Van Der Hagen Deluxe and it was on.

I leave my soaps uncovered for an hour or so, then either:

1. Cover with the lid, if the bowl has one.
2. If the soap has a scent and the bowl has no lid, I cover with kitchen plastic wrap (Press N' Seal).
3. If the soap has lost most of its scent, I just leave the bowl uncovered.

If my soaps come with a lid, I put back on. For my Cella 1kg, I take a chunk out and put it in my mug. It stays there uncovered for as long as it takes to use up. Never had an issue with lather or scent. Still works and smells great!
