Could canvas be used in strop making??

Hi guys,

Well I'm on the road to making my first double strop but fell at the first hurdle when trying to source a material for canvas/linen side.
Ive tried to research on here but alas there doesnt seem to be a definitive answer on what grades of material to use or where to purchase from!
So scouring the web I found this likely candidate....what do you think???

Any ideas whether this would be acceptable to cut in to strips and adorn my leather strop??

oooo forgot to ask, could someone please post up a really close up picture of what there canvas/linen strop weave looks like!

Been there, done that....
Here is an old post of mine showing my technique/materials to make a home-made canvas strop. (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=132972) I've given out about 5 of 'em and have made 4 for myself, they work really well.

well as luck would have it Ive managed it get some for free!!
There is a sign shop just round the corner from where I work and they deal with canvas and as we help them out with our forklift he's given me about 12m of some really heavy duty stuff.......well chuffed!!
