Cork slices for setting knots

Apologies if this sounds like a dumb question, but does anyone have an easy way for getting clean/flat slices of cork to use as spacers for setting knots?
I need to set a few and no matter what different ways I try, I can not get a clean cut of cork. I always end up with something slanted or uneven, and I don't want that to lead to a knot getting set a little crooked. I figured I would try to avail you fine folk with more experience in this area to see if you might have any suggestions 👍

I have used cork 2 or 3 times to lift the knot Before silicone is what I use.
After I try to figure out how much cork I need I'll use a utility knife and cut it purposely a little bit long where I can sort of trim up the unevenness.
Besides that I just let the silicone do the rest.

Craft stores sell cork in sheet form so the top & bottom would be parallel. Pick a thickness & cut a circle or use a hollow punch. Then stack as many as you need.

Disclaimer:
I haven't used these specific items. I don't know your exact needs, so I just searched to find inexpensive examples. I'm sure you can find others in tool shops, craft stores, etc.

Also, does it really need to be cork? AS it's been pointed out, nylon or rubber washers might work. Or bits of old gift cards, old leather belts, etc.

I'd avoid using coins or metal washers, as they could harm your tools the next time you need to drill out a knot.

Easy
go to liquor store
buy a bottle of wine
open bottle, keep cork
drink wine
use slices from the cork (use utility knife to cut slice in the thickness you need).

Also, Popsicle sticks work fine and so do tongue depressors....Just use one or two pieces if needed.

Great advice from the pro!

Oh believe me, no shortage of corks available here… our drinking preferences make sure of that…

The popsicle stick pieces is an interesting idea too, hadn’t thought of that.
