Cooper DE razor?

Found one for $15 in an antique store yesterday. Didn't get it. Don't know anything about it. It looked like this one:

Is that a Barbasol like head? Who can tell me about this razor?

Most coopers I've seen have had the open comb. I haven't seen one like this before. I would pick it up.

The Coopers were made around 1932 era. They made the Mono built swing door and various other razor designs.

If you're looking for something similar to the milder barbasol heads, but cheaper, look for a royal crown. They usually go for cheap, except in the case that it is mentioned that the razor is "barbasol style". The royal crown is a solid performer.

Some of them have the Barbasol non-floating head design, like this one. The Cooper pictured does not though. If you do find one though, you'd e able to swap out to your favorite handle which would be cool.

Well, it really does have a similar design, but the Barbie is tops no matter what. You should get it, they do shave aggressive though.

I have a Cooper OC that I picked up for a little of nothing, I like it. Get a nice shave out of it, with very little irritation. As I recall, the blades are proprietary, so a modern blade doesn't appear to fit. But when you tighten the cap down, it will pull the blade into place.

I went back and got it yesterday. Cleaned it up today (tried a straight for the first time last night), and plan on trying it tonight. I will report back with some poor quality pics in a bit.

I have a Cooper OC that I picked up for a little of nothing, I like it. Get a nice shave out of it, with very little irritation. As I recall, the blades are proprietary, so a modern blade doesn't appear to fit. But when you tighten the cap down, it will pull the blade into place.

Do u have the blades or do u making them yourself?

Not bad! Parts of my face were a little smoother than usual from the straight, but I got a nice DFS in 3 passes. Used Above the Tie Tangerine Clove soap, T&H Moonjava Best, Personna Lab, alum, and The VEG. I also used the Above the Tie Titan handle but put the original in the pics. Mild shaver with nice results.

The Barbie give aggressive results though, so it may not be the same

Yeah, I don't think so, but it is a pretty nice shave.

It really is smooth. The Titan handle helped, I believe. No problem on the blade fitment, either.

That's not the type of cooper that takes proprietary blades.
The cooper that takes those (or regular blades clamped down tight enough to even the blade out) is open comb and the center stud has a thickened oblong shaft.
