Considering grabbing of of these off eBay...

Any good? I'm still on the fence.

I considered buying one of those, but the lack of any wolf or wolf-esque engraving on the blade/scales turned me off.

It's got a really neat wood grain kind of engraving to it... I find myself inexplicably infatuated with it.

There have been 2 different Sweeney Todd razors released that I know of. One is just a prop piece and is really nothing more than a letter opener that sells for around $20. The other one more expensive is supposed to be a real razor but I have never seen an actual direct comparison to show they really are 2 different products.

The one that was linked is a $12.95 (delivered) piece of Chinese 440 stainless sold on a fantasy sword&knife page. What could go wrong?

I dont like how they show the razor with the movie razor in the background, they look similar, but the movie razor looks better/different grind/jimps

And Depp holds it like he's never seen one before. That blade could swing shut and do a job on his fingers. Perhaps he needs better gloves!

EDIT: Well, I guess his hand would prevent the tang from going to far and thereby save his fingers, but it is still a pretty clumsy look.

I have held one. They are in reality about 5 times as heavy as they look.
The "scales"(Should be called planks) make the razor so *** heavy that you would sprain your wrist trying to complete a shave.
On top of that, it has about a 45 degree bevel, that follows no logical relation to the spine.
1/4" thick blade=axe, not razor.

Oh, and the worst part, the blade pin is so loose that even a slight wind would blow the blade open or closed, and no visible way to tighten it up.

Just to be fair, if you end up buying it, send it to me, and I'll try and hone it into something workable.

So this isn't the sweetest straight to come along since W&B went out of business?

Whoa now guys!

Let's not rush to judgement here....

Depp holds it like he's never seen one before.

Quite the opposite! Look at that poster pic--he is clearly demonstration the coupe de' maitre'! Look at the focus and determination in the eyes....that gentlemen, is how you get a close shave with no nicks nor weepers...CONCENTRATION!

And those scales may be heavy as a boat anchor, but take a closer look---that sure looks like Damascus steel to me!. Some folks may prefer calling it pattern welded, or wootz, but they're just showing off....that is just pure scale sweetness, is what that is. You'd pay Big Buck$ to get a damascus razor from Zowada or Ellis, why bother when you can get it here for less????

The only reason I don't run out and buy one, is err...um...because it doesn't have a thumbnotch...yeah...no thumbnotch:rolleyes:
