Conical pipe chamber smoking tips

Lit up my new to me Boswell with what looks like a conical chamber. The bore seems to taper to the draft hole on the bottom.
Looked on the internet and saw one guy who balls up his leaf and stuffs the pipe leaving an air chamber on the bottom. Tried some LNF and it smoked well till the thing plugged up on me. I tamped as lightly as possible, but maybe not lightly enough. I passed a pipe cleaner through to keep smoking.
Any tips?

Pack lighter at the bottom than normal, and know that the flavors will strengthen and intensify when you get toward the bottom. You may need to tamp a little more as you get to he loose pack to correct.

Thanks for that. I like the idea of strengthening and intensifying of flavors!

Sounds to me like you're doing it right. I need to run a pipe cleaner through the stem into the heel of the pipe sometimes to loosen things up and get a draught going.
