Columbus, Ohio shopping update - Rivers Edge Cutlery

Brethren,

Sitting a mere 5.6 road miles from my domicile is Rivers Edge Cutlery. Based on a few posts I saw here on B&B I thought I would find a knife and sword shop with a few DE's and some Col. Conk soaps, a la your average tobacconist. Gentlemen, I say nay nay.

They are also a full-on barber supply shop!! They have TOBS, Proraso, Cella, Merkurs, vintage and new straights, brushes, Bolzano, Feather, 7O'Clock Yellow and Green, FULL LINES of Pinaud, Master's, Lucky Tiger and ARKO!! And, yes, they have The VEG! And much more!:thumbup::drool::thumbup::drool:

There is even a resident Shave Guru.

Suffice it to say, they are intentionally in the wet shaving business and it isn't just a "throw in" for them.

Oh, and they have full tubes of Marvy shave soaps. Maybe a dozen pucks for $18. Does anyone know anything about these?

If you are anywhere in the area, it is definitely worth the trip! :thumbup1:

Cheers,
-Greg

Looks like I might be traveling there in the near future. It will be for business, but may need to find a few hours to cut-away.

Thanks for the tip

I just wanted to provide an update to my original visit to Rivers Edge. I dropped by again yesterday to have a look at the straights in their case and had the chance to have a long conversation, nearly an hour, with Brad, one of their shave guys. Brad is a member here at B&B, shaves with a straight and learned to hone from his boss, Ron, at the shop who has been honing for 30+ years, as well as taking classes/instruction from Lynn Abrams. Brad is a younger guy but is the real deal. Brad let me know, too, that they are very interested in expanding their supply of wet shaving gear and are definitely open to taking suggestions from customers in terms of product lines or specific individual products.

I will say that they don't have a huge selection of straights, maybe 5 or 6, but Brad said what they do carry they move through pretty good. I'm not sure that they are necessarily going to be any kind of online resource for guys out of the area but for those of us in Central Ohio, we definitely do have a real little gem here.

I previously updated their Wiki entry but I think it's worth reiterating that they carry full lines of Razorock, TOBS, and Pinaud/Clubman, among many others.

Finally, Brad was expecting a large order of supplies to come in later this week so I will try to stop by on Saturday-ish to see if they have anything new and pass along the appropriate update.

Cheers!

Stopped in to Rivers Edge today while visiting family in Ohio. My first brick and mortar shop that has a descent selection. Bought some Prorasso red in a tub and some RR Third Eye in a tub. The guy behind the counter was great. They had a good variety of razors, soap, after shaves, and other fine shaving accesories. Columbus is lucky to have this shop.

Was just here today. They were closed on Sundays but are now open from 10:00 (I believe) to 4:00. Very good selection. I picked up some RazoRock Classic Shave Cream, Proraso Preshave Cream and a 10 pack of Feathers. Prices were comparable to online - $6.99, $11.99 and $5.99, respectively. Staff were very friendly. Some of the items I saw included EJ and Parker razors, a few different shavettes, Cella, RazoRock, Proraso, Captains Choice, Lucky Tiger, Persona, Merkur, stands, mugs, etc. I would highly recommend this place for anyone near/around Columbus!
