Colored pencils, pens, or markers?

or something?
Since I started mesing with my fountain pens, I got my wife a bit interested, she seems to like to scetch, and doesn't seems to bad.
Trouble is, FPs don't really seem to condusive for scetching, and I know nothing about that stuff.
Anyone know of some cheap colored pencils, pens, or what have you, I can get for her?

I never really got into colored pencils, but Derwent is a good brand. Some of the water color pencils are a lot of fun, so are the soft pastels (chalk like) or charcoal pencil. The latter two work better on large formats.

For just sketching I like an HB pencil, or dip pen (lots of options here).

Oh, and brush pens....

Consider Sakura Pigma Micron pigment pens. They come in several nib sizes and colors. Archival quality, no bleed through.

I tend to use sharpie markers for drawing up rc body designs I may paint for someone. Although I start with a soft pencil f or hb hardness for rough outlines (I still have my drafting leads and lead holder from high school). I have seen some great fountain and calligraphy pen sketches recently online. I guess it really depends on what she finds comfortable in using.

If you want to go with colored pencils, Faber-Castell and Caran D'Ache are considered by many to be high quality. Of course, you'll pay a bit more than the assortment pack you get at the Dollar Store. :001_rolle

With the 4.5oz bottles of Noodler's Kung Te-cheng, Whaleman's Sepia, and Baystate Blue, you get a free eyedropper Preppy and a free eyedropper brush pen.

I ordered this. Hope I didn't screw up.
I'll stop by the Dollar General tomorrow, and see what they have in the meantime, since it may take 12 months to ship from Japan.
Whattaya think?
