Cold Steel knives

Really? How can you back that up?

Lynn Thompson is widely disliked in the knife community for copying other's designs, outrageous claims about his knives, disrespecting other makers and generally being a pain in the rear end

His knives are considered to be generally good value for money though. Cold Steel do not make their own knives, but outsource the manufacturing. Most of the better ones are made in Japan. I have a SRK from my army days and it is a well made knife even though the handles should have been better.

I am a Spyderco man but I do own a Cold Steel Mini Pal push dagger which I occasionally wear clipped to my name tag at work. Good little dagger.

i'd take most brands over cold steel, but the caledonian edge is a well made knife made by a good japanese maker so not a bad choice.

at that price i'd look at william henry, chris reeve, kopas from spyderco, bradley alias etc.
